چکیده مقاله:

This article investigates the potential of gamification to foster metacognitive skills in English language learners (ELLs) through the lens of Neo-Piagetian cognitive development theory. By linking gamified features such as challenge progression, reflective play, and adaptive feedback with cognitive load management and scaffolding, this study proposes that gamification becomes more than motivational; it becomes a scaffolded cognitive mediator for reflection, self-monitoring, and strategic learning. The article reviews emerging research on gamified learning outcomes in language education and outlines an experimental framework comparing traditional and gamified pedagogies. Implications for teaching practice, curriculum design, and future research are discussed.
