چکیده مقاله:

Introduction:Breast cancer (BC) is the most common cancer among women worldwide and has now surpassedlung cancer as the leading cause of global cancer incidence in ۲۰۲۰. We conducted this study toevaluate the long term time trend of breast cancer worldwide and in different World Bank regions.Method:We obtained data on age-standardized incidence and mortality rates of BC from ۱۹۹۰-۲۰۱۹ fromthe Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME). To evaluate the annual percentage change(APC) and average annual percentage change (AAPC) of BC, we conducted joinpoint regressionanalysis using the joinpoint software (version ۴.۸.۰.۱). Results were considered statisticallysignificant at Pvalue<۰.۰۵ level.Result:The time trend of the mortality rates showed a slight decline (AAPC ۹۵% CI = -۰.۴ (-۰.۴, -۰.۳))whereas, the time trend of the incidence rates showed a slight increase in BC worldwide (AAPC۹۵% CI = ۰.۵ (۰.۳, ۰.۶)). In addition, the time trend of mortality rates was declining in North America(AAPC ۹۵% CI = -۱.۴ (-۱.۵, -۱.۵)), Europe and Central Asia (AAPC ۹۵% CI = -۰.۸ (-۰.۹, -۰.۶)), LatinAmerica and Caribbean (AAPC ۹۵% CI = -۰.۴ (-۰.۵, -۰.۴)). The time trend of incidence rates wasdeclining only in North America (AAPC ۹۵% CI = -۰.۷ (-۰.۹, -۰.۵)).Conclusion:Despite the observed worldwide declining trend of incidence and mortality rates of BC, it seemsthat socioeconomic status and level of development in different regions play a role in the temporalchanges in incidence and mortality rates of BC.
