Comparison of the effect of e-learning and blended learning on knowledge, attitudes of cancer caregivers undergoing chemotherapy

Introduction: Cancer is a chronic disease that affects the individual and the family. Learning through the provision of electronic content and learning is a blended of teaching methods to patients and caregivers. The aim of this study was to compare the effect of e-learning and blended learning on the ability of caregivers of cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy Methods: This clinical trial was performed in the main chemotherapy center of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences. ۱۲۳ caregivers of cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy were selected by simple random sampling and were divided into two intervention groups and one control group based on lottery. Three ۹۰-minute training sessions were performed for the first intervention group and a CD of educational content was provided to them. The second intervention group received only training CDs. Caregivers 'knowledge and attitudes were assessed using a questionnaire (caregivers' ability) in all three groups; at the beginning of the study, immediately and one month after the study. Results: Comparison of mean knowledge score in the two intervention groups showed that caregivers' knowledge score increased (P = .۰۰۲) but this difference between the two groups was not significant (p =.۳). Comparison of attitude scores showed that the mean score increased in each group and the intervention group showed a better attitude after the intervention than the other two groups. p = (.۰۰۳). Conclusion: Findings indicated a better effect of e-learning and blended on the attitude and knowledge of patients' caregivers.
