چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: One of the applications of information technology in health is its use to provide distance services, one of which is telemedicine. This study aimed to investigate the effect of telemedicine on nurses' performance. This study's findings can encourage health agents to formulate health and social policies and provide health interventions through telemedicine. Methods and tools: In this review study, which was conducted in 1399, first the keywords telemedicine, nurses performance, and telemedicine services in Magiran and SID databases and PubMed and Google Scholar search engines Search searched. Then, the published articles from 2008 to 2020 were included in the study. The findings related to the research were extracted by including them in the table and selecting the most relevant articles. Results: Out of 21 studies found, six cases performed in Iran were related to telemedicine's effect on nurses' performance. Findings of three articles showed that distance nursing improves the quality of patient care and creates a flexible and good relationship between nurse and patient. Two articles refer to the increase in the average workload of nurses. Thirty percent of the articles covered telemedicine's use in reducing the need for human resources and reaching patients over a wide geographical area using the telephone as a telecommunications tool. This study's findings show that distance nursing improves nurses' performance and can be considered an alternative clinical workforce method. Conclusion: Based on the findings, distance nursing plays a vital role in reducing the need for a clinical workforce. Many people can also be covered by care services programs, regardless of the spatial and temporal dimension, using this technology. Therefore, by planning, this method can be used as a complementary or alternative to existing methods.
