چکیده مقاله:

In recent years, seismic design provisions have moved toward performance-based design methodologies where a certain limit of deformation corresponding to a specific performance level is deemed an acceptance criterion for the member under consideration. Specifying an appropriate acceptance criterion for beam-to-column connections is of great significance, since the seismic performance of steel moment frames is directly relevant to the performance of beam-to-column connections. Hence, this paper is intended to specify the deformations corresponding to the performance levels for one of the most commonly used rigid connections with flange plates, and then evaluate nonlinear acceptance criteria stipulated in FEMA 356. Performing nonlinear finite element analyses which are validated by experimental data, is the main approach of this research. Analytical results which proved to be very well matched with experimental data, clearly showed that some of the acceptance criteria pointed out in FEMA 356, do not have the required factor of safety, and hence there is a crucial need to revise them and enhance their accuracy
