An experiment was conducted at Deztul research station to determine the effects of sugar mud, used instead of oyster shell at various levels, on production Performance of commercial laying hens and their egg quality. A total of 210 Commercial laying hens (42 weeks old) were housed randomly and reared on litter for 16 weeks. A complete randomized block design with five treatments and 6 replications was used Different samples of sugar mud were analysed and showed that it has got 32-35 percent Ca and 0.05% Phosphorous. Egg production, egg weight, Peed consumption and feed efficiency showed no differences when high levels of sugar mud used. Index of egg, eggshel weight and thickness showed significant differences (P<0.01) and as the amount of replacement increased above 30 percent, eggs have become thinner during the experiment.
