Growth patterns of Oxynoemacheilus bergianus in the Qarah-Chai River, the Qom Province

Oxynoemacheilus bergianus is an endemic loach )Nemacheilidae( of Iran and little isknown about its biology. This study was carried out to evaluated growth pattern ofthis species with 182 fish samples that obtained from February up to July 2013 withbeach line net. Sex ratio of male to female was 1:1.68 that showed significantdeviance from 1:1 ratio (χ2 = 6.83, p < 0.05). The maximum total length and weightwere 63 mm and 2.77 g for females, 66 mm 2.21 g for males. The weight-lengthrelationship of female was W = 0.009 TL 2.91 (r2 = 0.89) and the weight-lengthrelationship of male was W = 0.007 TL 3.07 (r2 = 0.96) and the total relationship wasW = 0.009 TL 2.96 (r2 = 0.91). The results showed negative allometric growth (t-test,tRmaleR= 1.57, tRfmle= R0.82, tRpopulationR=0.46, p < 0.05). The condition factor was estimated0.74 ± 0.08 in male and 0.99 ± 0.16 in female and the total condition factor was 0.91± 0.13.
