Investigating the concept and status of sustainable urban management in municipalities

The structure of urban management in Iran, in order to move from a centralized system and move towards a decentralized system and to escape the challenges, should inevitably lead to a change in the planning and management system, sustainable urban development as a fundamental solution. In order to achieve a real sustainable situation in the cities, it is necessary to formulate policies for reaching sustainable cities. Today, as the consumer and distributor of goods and services, cities have become the focus of attention. Therefore, it requires an optimal management to reduce cultural, social, service, relaxation and comfort problems, to create justice fairly, and to strengthen the spirit of citizen participation. For this reason, the important issue of sustainable development has been considered. In recent decades, one of the pillars of sustainable development is the achievement of sustainable urban development. This paper, while addressing a clearer idea of the concept of urban management, examines the relationship between sustainable development and urban management. The research method of this paper is descriptive-analytical and its data are collected in a library method.
