چکیده مقاله:
Introduction: Allergic diseases stimulate the immune system in pediatrics. The prevalence of asthma and eczema has increased worldwide in recent years. Studies showed that gut microbiota is responsible of causing allergic diseases in neonates and early childhood, in part. Children with atopic diseases have different microbiome in the intestine compared to non-atopic children. Gut microbiome composition in infants with maternal source or through dietary intakes can be effective in boosting immunity. Probiotics are defined as living microorganisms that can alter gut microbiota and provide health benefits for their hosts. In this review the association of probiotic intake during pregnancy and allergic diseases in early childhood will be discussed. Methods: In this review, the published articles over the past 10 years were studied using PubMed,Google Scholar, and Scopus databases with the related keywords. Results: The search results showed that using probiotic during pregnancy had no consistent effect onrelieving allergic symptoms during the two years of early life in neonates. Conclusion: Currently, there is no precise recommendation on maternal probiotic use for preventing allergic diseases in neonates. Further studies are needed to evaluate this relationship.
