Evidence-based design for people with dementia

This article aims to suggest a design plan for Alzheimer s Care Environments based on guidelines of evidence-based design to improve the elderly Alzheimer s life quality. The cognitive neuroscience with the study of the nervous system that explore evoking autobiographical odour memory of people with Alzheimer s disease as a knowledge base, supports the design process. The management, coordination and control of nostalgic smell through air conditioning and smell of nature are considered as the main points of the design plan in this study. Finally, the author mentions some design approaches relating to the smell sense perception in Alzheimers plan building.
