چکیده مقاله:

This study aimed to assess the quality of Persian translation of Into the Water by Paula Hawkins based on House’s (1997) model of translation quality assessment. First, the register of source text were recognized and then the translation was studied to find the mismatches. The dimensional mismatches were categorized based on different dimensions of register including field, tenor, and mode. The overt errors were categorized into not translated, slight change in meaning, and breach of the language system. Breach of the language systems could be related to both source language and target language systems. According to house (1997), breach of target language system is subdivided into two groups namely a) ungrammatically and b) dubious acceptability. Breach of the source language system is subdivided into omissions, additions, substitutions consisting of either wrong selections or wrong combinations of elements. The result of this study revealed that the Persian translation of Into the Water tended to be a covert kind of translation rather than an overt. A number of errors found in the Persian translation of this literary work underline the significance of TQA for literary works in Iran. Translators, and students in the field of translation studies can take advantage of this model to assess their translations
