چکیده مقاله:

Currently, ICT and education processes are experiencing development and innovation. E-learning is considered as one of the most prominent ICT applications across the world. Advantages of virtual learning have led to the daily usage of this teaching method in various universities .Learning management systems are specific web based systems to manage, track students, define courses, and evaluate but even with their vast facilities and features, these systems are not without disadvantages related to inefficiencies. In order to make the most of such systems, suitable analysis should take place to determine shortcomings and measures should be taken to decrease or eliminate them.In this paper it is attempted to identify the University of Tehran’s LMS applicable fields based on a specific conceptual framework and to present relevant issues for each dimension. The single case study methodology is used. Three Data collection methods were used. The first method included holding interviews. The second method included observation and assessment of the university’s LMS system. The third method was document assessment and comparison with other virtual university LMS systems.Research results indicated that issues relevant to the fourth dimension (Cooperation and collaboration module) are of higher importance. Furthermore, the researcher believes that most issues arose from the test and evaluation module, database module and systematic and infrastructure module. The final section of the research presents recommendations for the university concerning purchasing such system with stated characteristics and capabilities
