An Overview on Persian Text Summarization

Text summarization is one of the most attractive research areas for most NLP researchers. Summarization systems offer the possibility of finding the main points of texts and so the user will spend less time on reading the whole document. Different summary types might be useful for various languages and applications. Therefore text summarization systems can be categorized based on various languages and applications types. This paper considered some of challenging problems faced to Persian text. Then expose a literature review of recent techniques and works on automatic Persian text summarization. After that the most important criteria for a summary which can be generated by a system are defined. Finally, some of the main fundamental and standard proposed tools for Persian text processing are introduced.
