The Recognition of the child -friendly city,s characteristics

A consideration of complications facing children indicates that they need asafe and secure environment with no air and sound pollution, no lack ofsecurity, no lack of playgrounds, etc. so that they could live under no worry.City architectures have been designed based on aestheticism for adults,aiming at enhancing citizen’s life quality, often having no consideration forchildren. Based on this, questions concerning children position in the city andwhat their ideas of a city are seem meaningless and impertinent and so manycity designs do not take children into account. Even, in case a city designincorporates places for children’s happiness, it has been undoubtedly basedon those ideas which have not been proposed by children. Nevertheless, allthese happen in situations where children exist and form the majority ofpopulation in a society. Since, proposed principles and criteria of CFC havebeen proposed by many countries and our country, Iran, has made manyattempts in this regard, the present study aims to investigate a record of othercountries and review studies in Iran. Methodology is a descriptive-analyticone. Part of data were collected through library and documentary method andthe rest were extracted from findings of a study titled characterization andcomparison of CFC criteria carried out by the first author in research centerof road, housing and urbanization.
