چکیده مقاله:
Plants produce secondary metabolites have important different roles as defence against herbivorous animals and pathogens. These metabolites may be produced in certain tissue or organs permanently or in the special developmental steps. The largest class of plant secondary metabolites are monoterpens, undoubtedly. They are linear or cyclic compounds with 10 carbons produced from GPP as precursor. These compounds can be produced in organs like root and stem in natural development process in hundreds of plant taxon. However, there are few studies on regulatory physiological and molecular mechanisms in medicinal plant. Cumin (Cuminum cyminum L.) from Apiacae is a diploid plant which has antioxidant, antibacterial and antifungal features. In this research drought stress effect has been examined on types, amounts and numbers of oil compounds. For this purpose, an Iranian ecotypes, Ardakan-Yazd was planted in the greenhouse. Stress was applied in levels 50% FC by weight method. Leaves were sampled from every pot. To assess essential oil, samples were air dried and their extracted volatile oils were examined by Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS). Main compounds of this ecotype were beta-Accoradine, l-Phellandrene and gamma-Terpinene. Results indicates amount of secondary metabolites in Cumin same as other plants are affected directly by their environment strongly. Thus in different climates and variant development stages are divergent. Change in drought stress level cause physiological alternation in plants and amount of secondary metabolites are affected
