Explaining the role of information technology in improvement of financial performance of manufacturing companies of Gilan Province

Information technology today is playing more and more role in all aspects of production, marketing, distribution and sale. It’s been a driving force of many progressions in productivity and one of the most important tools for developing marketing and new services which has resulted in reducing company costs in the new economy and for many reasons this role will continue. Therefore developing the infrastructures of the information technology in state and private sector is undeniable. Investing on the information technology to improve the main ability and competitiveness of the company in its related industry is very important. Purpose of this study is investigating the role of information technology in the financial performance of manufacturing companies of Gilan Province. Research method is correlational descriptive in which the role of information technology in the financial performance of companies was studied using 117 companies as samples selected by simple random sampling method and simple and multiple regression models. Research findings prove the positive impact of information technology on the financial performance of companies and all test results show that there is a 99% meaningful relation between all IT factors and financial performance. Based on the equation of multiple regression, predictor of the variable of IT involvement predicts about 27% of the variable of the financial performance index
