Optimal Linear Prediction for Electricity Price Forecasting

For increasingly deregulated electricity market, accurate forecasting of electricity demand and spot price has become crucial for the independent system operators, generators and consumers. In this study linear prediction optimized by Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) was suggested and the results of this novel method were compared with ordinary linear prediction. Then applying the real data, proposed methods and comparing theirresults, this idea came true that the proposed novel method (optimized linear prediction by PSO) resulted much better than ordinary linear forecasting method. Results are based on real data of an area in Queensland.
