چکیده مقاله:

The pollution of water driven by antibiotic contaminants is one of the serious environmental problems. In this area, the multifunctional nanocomposites developed from biopolymers and nanoparticles like magnetite and graphene oxide (GO) are a good candidate in the water treatment area. Considering this, in the present work, the magnetic graphene oxide (GO-Fe۳O۴) was prepared and then capped with alginate (Alg) biopolymer (GO-Fe۳O۴@Alg). The characteristics of the synthesized GO-Fe۳O۴@Alg nanocomposite were investigated using Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis. The GO-Fe۳O۴@Alg was investigated for the removal of tetracycline (TC) antibiotic from aqueous media in a batch system. The effect of contact time on the removal of the TC antibiotic was studied. Kinetic studies displayed that the TC adsorption was well fitted with a pseudo-first-order kinetic model with R² of ۰.۹۸۱۴. Overall, the obtained findings suggested that the GO-Fe۳O۴@Alg nanocomposite can be proposed as a new eco-friendly and low-cost adsorbent with enhanced physicochemical features for TC contaminants removal from the aquatic medium.
