The Effectiveness of Structural Family Therapy in Improving Co-Parenting Quality Post-Divorce: A Meta-Analytic Review

This meta-analytic review systematically examines the effectiveness of Structural Family Therapy (SFT) in enhancing co-parenting quality among divorced parents. Divorce often introduces significant challenges to parental collaboration, impacting children’s well-being. SFT, with its focus on reorganizing family structures and boundaries, is posited as a viable intervention. This study synthesizes findings from recent empirical studies published between ۲۰۲۰ and ۲۰۲۵, identified through comprehensive searches on Google Scholar. The primary objective is to quantify the overall effect size of SFT on co-parenting quality and related child adjustment outcomes. Secondary objectives include exploring potential moderators and assessing for publication bias. The review adheres to PRISMA guidelines, employing rigorous selection criteria for study inclusion. Data extraction focuses on key quantitative metrics such as effect sizes (Hedges’ g), confidence intervals, and sample characteristics. Statistical analyses, including random-effects models, are utilized to derive pooled effect sizes. The findings are presented through detailed tables and forest plots, providing a clear visual representation of individual study effects and the overall meta-analytic outcome. This research aims to offer evidence-based insights for clinicians, policymakers, and divorced families seeking effective interventions to foster healthy co-parenting environments.
