چکیده مقاله:
The rapid aging of the global population presents significant challenges to healthcare systems, particularly in emergency medicine where elderly patients require specialized care. Traditional training methods often fall short in preparing healthcare professionals for the complexities of geriatric emergencies. This meta-analysis synthesizes evidence on the effectiveness of novel digital technologies—including virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), high-fidelity simulation (HFS), and artificial intelligence (AI)—in the training and education of nurses and emergency teams for managing elderly patients. A systematic review of literature from databases such as Google Scholar, PubMed, and ScienceDirect between ۲۰۰۵ and ۲۰۲۵ was conducted. Key meta-analyses and randomized controlled trials were selected to quantify the impact of these technologies. The results reveal a strong positive effect of technology-enhanced simulation on learning outcomes. A major meta-analysis found an overall effect size of ۰.۸۰ (۹۵% CI ۰.۶۰–۱.۰۰) favoring technological interventions over traditional methods [۱]. The impact was most pronounced among nurses and nursing students (Effect Size: ۱.۱۱). Furthermore, simulation fidelity was found to be a critical factor, with medium-fidelity simulation demonstrating the highest effect on psychomotor skills (ES: ۱.۷۶) [۲]. VR-based training, in particular, has shown significant success in improving the emergency response capabilities of nurses (p<۰.۰۱) [۳]. In conclusion, digital simulation technologies represent a powerful and effective pedagogical approach for enhancing the competence, confidence, and performance of healthcare professionals in geriatric emergency care. Integrating these technologies into standard training curricula is essential for addressing the growing healthcare needs of the aging population and improving patient safety.
