چکیده مقاله:

Intergenerational trauma represents the psychological and physiological effects that a traumatic experience has on subsequent generations. While much research has focused on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and anxiety, the role of "shame" as a core mechanism of transmission remains under-explored. This meta-analysis synthesizes findings from global studies published between ۲۰۲۰ and ۲۰۲۵ to examine the correlation between parental shame-based trauma and offspring psychological outcomes. Following PRISMA guidelines, a systematic search was conducted across Google Scholar, PubMed, and local databases (including Persian sources). A total of ۱۲ high-quality studies met the inclusion criteria. The results indicate a significant positive correlation between parental internalized shame and offspring shame (r = ۰.۴۲, p < ۰.۰۰۱). Furthermore, intergenerational trauma significantly predicts higher levels of internalized shame in the second and third generations (r = ۰.۵۱, p < ۰.۰۰۱). Heterogeneity analysis revealed that cultural context and the type of trauma (e.g., war vs. domestic maltreatment) act as significant moderators. These findings highlight the necessity of shame-informed interventions in breaking the cycle of transgenerational trauma.
