چکیده مقاله:

The insurance industry, a cornerstone of global economic stability, is undergoing a profound transformation driven by technological innovation, broadly termed InsurTech. This Article investigates the pivotal role of blockchain technology within this evolution, positing it as a foundational element for the future of insurance. By examining blockchain's inherent characteristics-decentralization, immutability, transparency, and enhanced security through cryptography-this research analyzes its potential to revolutionize core insurance operations. These include underwriting, claims processing, fraud detection, and reinsurance. Furthermore, this work explores the emergence of novel insurance models and products facilitated by blockchain and smart contracts, such as parametric insurance, peer-to-peer (P۲P) insurance, and decentralized finance (DeFi) insurance offerings. Through a comprehensive review of existing literature, industry reports, and case studies, this Article highlights the transformative opportunities presented by blockchain in addressing longstanding industry challenges like operational inefficiencies, information asymmetry, and fraudulent activities. Concurrently, it critically assesses the significant hurdles to widespread adoption. These challenges encompass issues of scalability, interoperability with legacy systems, the evolving regulatory landscape, the need for industry-wide standardization and collaboration, and the overall maturity of the technology. The central argument of this Article is that despite these challenges, the strategic integration of blockchain technology is indispensable for shaping a more efficient, transparent, secure, and customer-centric future for the insurance sector. It concludes that blockchain is not merely an incremental improvement but a disruptive force with the capacity to redefine the operational and business paradigms of the insurance industry, thereby heralding the next generation of InsurTech.
