The Online shopping presents significant navigation hurdles for individuals with blindness or low vision utilizing screen readers. Intricate layouts, ambiguous content structures, and visually-centric designs contribute to an inefficient and frustrating user journey, especially on new platforms. Existing accessibility solutions typically address individual components like alt text or product details, yet often neglect the overarching structural and navigational issues faced by screen reader users across full web pages. This research investigates the application of Generative AI (GenAI) to elevate the accessibility of e-commerce sites through automated HTML restructuring. Our comprehensive, three-phase study involved: ۱.Formative Interviews: Gathering insights from screen reader users.۲.System Development: Creating a GenAI-powered browser extension. ۳.User Evaluation: Conducting both automated accessibility audits and practical user testing. The developed tool dynamically restructures web content, optimizing it for screen reader navigation. Findings from user studies with participants experiencing blindness and low vision confirm that the GenAI-enhanced pages substantially boost navigation efficiency, enhance content clarity, and improve overall website usability.
