Assessing the Role of Urban Regeneration in Enhancing the Quality of Life in Iran's Inefficient Historic Urban Textures

Historical inefficient textures in many Iranian cities face numerous challenges due to physical obsolescence, decline in urban environmental quality, reduced security, lack of services, and weak social ties. These conditions have diminished the quality of life for residents and reduced the cultural-historical values of these spaces. Urban regeneration, as a comprehensive, participatory, and sustainable approach, can improve the quality of life in these textures by upgrading infrastructure, reviving historical identity, empowering the community, and strengthening the local economy. This article, using a review approach, explains the concepts of urban regeneration and quality of life and analyzes the role of regeneration in improving the quality of life in historical inefficient textures of Iran. The results indicate that successful regeneration requires the integration of historical preservation with the needs of contemporary life, active participation of the local community, and integrated planning.
