چکیده مقاله:

The increase in road traffic and highways within and outside the city leads to accidents caused by left turns at level intersections. Therefore, in recent years, one of the solutions to prevent and reduce such accidents and increase traffic efficiency has been the design and implementation of roundabouts in the operational plan. Roundabouts are introduced and implemented as one of the important parameters of the suburban and urban road network in Iran. Assessing the capacity, performance, and level of service of intersections and road signs in the context of traffic impact is of particular importance. Therefore, considering their main characteristics, namely reducing interfering movements and eliminating left-turn movements, the design and implementation of roundabouts should be located at an appropriate and safe distance from the intersection so that vehicles that use them to turn left and then move straight or turn right can easily and comfortably fit into the traffic flow and do not encounter any special problems. This article reviews the presentation of geometric design details and increasing safety and eliminating level intersections and traffic flow, and the results obtained also indicate that with this design, the number of accidents has decreased and safety for drivers has increased.
