چکیده مقاله:

This study examines the potential role of probiotics as a complementary intervention to support cognitive and emotional development in children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Drawing on the gut–brain axis framework, we review current evidence linking gut microbiota modulation via probiotics to neurodevelopmental outcomes, behavioural/emotional regulation, and educational implications. We analyse randomized controlled trials and systematic reviews in ASD and non ASD populations, identify gaps in the literature, and discuss how educational and clinical interventions may integrate probiotic strategies. The findings suggest modest evidence of benefit for multi strain probiotic blends on behavioural symptoms and emotional regulation in ASD, though evidence for core cognitive outcomes remains limited. Implications for educational practice, screening, and interdisciplinary collaboration (microbiology, psychology, pedagogy) are discussed, along with recommendations for future research.
