چکیده مقاله:

Piles with the ability to transfer loads to deeper layers of the soil are used when the surface layer of the soil does not have sufficient bearing capacity. Specifically, tapered piles with a larger upper cross-section than the lower ones offer a higher shaft bearing than cylindrical piles. To achieve the necessary bearing capacity, piles are utilized in groups and attached to a pile cap to ensure that they work together. Placing the pile cap directly on the soil contributes to the load-bearing capacity and reduces the quantity of piles. In the present study, the impact of pile spacing on the performance of tapered piled rafts has been assessed employing finite element software PLAXIS ۳D. The models have been validated using recent experimental study. It was evident that a value of ۴ S/D converges the load-settlement performance of piles with various pile positions and it also optimizes the piled raft coefficient. It was also verified that the shaft bearing of tapered piles is larger in comparison to cylindrical piles, which results in a rise in stress in the soil surrounding the piles.
