چکیده مقاله:

To mitigate the issues related to weak soils, methods such as deep foundations (piles) and ground improvement columns, specifically ground improvement columns, are frequently utilized because they are often more economical and time-efficient compared to traditional pile systems. This shows the importance of investigating the effects of ground improvement columns on the enhancement of weak soil characteristics. In the presented research, using three-dimensional numerical modeling, has been evaluated the load bearing capacity, stress distribution and settlement behaviors of weak soils (loose sand and soft clay) that have improved via ground improvement columns. The methods examined include rigid inclusions, jet grouting, deep soil mixing, and gravel columns, ranked from rigidity to softness. All assessments are conducted under static loading conditions. The findings from the presented research indicate that ground improvement columns significantly increase the load bearing capacity and reduce the settlement of the weak soils. Furthermore, it is observed that as the stiffness of the ground improvement columns increases, they are able to accommodate a larger portion of the applied loads, thereby decreasing the stress imparted to the surrounding soil matrix.
