چکیده مقاله:

This study evaluates the removal efficiency of multiple pollutants, Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Total Phosphorus (TP), and Total Nitrogen (TN), at the South Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant (S-WWTP) in Isfahan, Iran, over six months (June-November ۲۰۲۴). The plant operates using a conventional activated sludge system. The highest recorded inlet concentration was ۷۸۰.۳ mg/L for COD, which dropped to ۵۷.۲ mg/L at the outlet. The average daily flow rate was approximately ۱۰۵,۰۴۰ ± ۳,۷۳۱ m³/day. Based on COD, the peak pollution load reached ۸۱,۹۶۶ kg/day at the inlet and ۶,۰۱۱ kg/day at the outlet. The WWTP achieved maximum removal efficiencies of ۹۵.۵% for TSS, ۹۲.۷% for COD, and ۹۰.۳% for BOD. TP and TN showed lower removal rates at ۳۲.۷% and ۲۶.۹%, respectively. Operational fluctuations were observed during the study period, for example, in June and July, when aeration blower maintenance affected performance. COD removal efficiency dropped to ۷۳% in June but recovered to ۹۶% in July, underscoring the critical role of aeration in biological treatment. Overall, the S-WWTP demonstrates strong performance in reducing major pollutants, contributing significantly to environmental protection in the region.
