A Review of Recent Advances in Applied Linguistics: Theories, Methods, and Applications

This review synthesizes key insights from the Advances in Applied Linguistics and recent scholarly articles, focusing on critical developments in second language acquisition (SLA), language teaching methodologies, and technology-enhanced language learning. Through a systematic literature review spanning ۲۰۱۵-۲۰۲۵, this article critically examines theoretical frameworks, empirical findings, and practical applications within applied linguistics. The methodology involved a rigorous selection process utilizing Scopus and Web of Science, guided by specific inclusion/exclusion criteria and quality assessments. Findings highlight substantial progress in task-based language teaching (TBLT) and the integration of digital tools, while also identifying persistent challenges related to learner diversity and assessment validity. This review proposes future research directions to address these identified gaps and enhance the field's impact on education and communication.
