چکیده مقاله:
Background and Aim: Fungi have the potential to contaminate animal feed. The main factor affecting large animal productivity is the feed they receive. The evaluation of fungal contamination in large animal feeds is a crucial measure to manage feed quality and hygiene. The aim of this study was to determine the level of fungal contamination in large animal feed. Material and Methods: First, sampling of large animal feed was randomly done in Babol city and the samples were taken to the laboratory and transferred to Sabouraud dextrose broth (SDB) medium containing tetracycline antibiotic disc. After growth, the fungi were transferred to the solid medium of Sabouraud dextrose agar (SDA) and purification was done. A combination of macro- and microscopic morphological criteria was used to identify purified fungal colonies. For final confirmation, slide cultures were prepared from the samples. Results: In this study, we were able to isolate and identify five species of saprophytic molds, namely Mortierella, Aspergillus fumigatus, Penicillium, Scopulariopsis and Cladosporium. Conclusion: According to the results, attention to controlling fungal contamination in large animal feed is necessary.
