These emotions can be utilized by urban designers and architects to evoke specific feelings in citizens, tying their emotions to the characteristics of the built environment and aligning their perception of the environment with those emotions. One of the emotions that a citizen can experience from the environment is a sense of safety. And one of the urban design elements that can activate this feeling is lighting. The relationship between a sense of safety and lighting holds significant importance, which will be discussed further below.
