چکیده مقاله:
The role of vocabulary knowledge in learning a language is essential. Some language learners aremore successful than others in mastering new words. It may be due to the types of vocabularystrategies they employ when facing new words. The current study aims at determining thevocabulary learning strategies by Iranian undergraduate students learning English for specificpurposes. To this end, an intact group of undergraduate students in an ESP course took part in thestudy. Schmitt's taxonomy of vocabulary learning strategy (۱۹۹۷) was employed. The data wascollected and analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results indicated that the participants weremedium vocabulary learning strategy users. Furthermore, determination strategy was found to bethe most frequently used strategy
