Introduction: The aim of the present study was the effect of one week of alpha lipoic acidsupplementation on functional indicators of delayed muscle contusion following a session ofintense extraversion activity in female tennis players in Tehran.Methodology: In the currentresearch, active female tennis players in the age range of ۲۰ to ۳۰ years are from Tehran province,and ۳۰ of them were randomly divided into ۲ groups: ۱: placebo, ۲: supplement. Subjectsperformed functional tests before loading. Then, for one week, the alphalipolic acid supplementgroup loaded ۶۰۰ mg (۲ capsules of ۳۰۰ mg) and performed functional tests again. On the eighthday, all subjects with ۸۰% performed a maximum repetition of the leg press movement until failurein ۴ sets with a ۳-minute rest, and immediately, ۲۴ and ۴۸ hours after the protocol, functionalcontusion tests were repeated. Data analysis was performed by repeated-measures analysis ofvariance. ۲*۲ and Tukey's post hoc test was performed at a significance level of ۰.۰۵.Findings andresults: The results of the statistical test showed that pain levels decreased in the supplement group(p<۰.۰۵) and Sargent's jump, knee range of motion, anaerobic capacity, and thigh muscle swellingdid not change significantly (p>۰.۰۵). Conclusion: According to the results of the present study, itseems that alpha-lipoic acid only reduced the pain of the subjects and has no effect on delayedmuscle Soreness.
