چکیده مقاله:

Oxaliplatin is an effective chemotherapeutic medication for the treatment of colorectal cancer (CRC), however prolongedusage of it frequently leads to drug resistance. It is critical to develop methods for reducing CRC cell oxaliplatin resistance.Peganum harmala L. (P. harmala), is widely used in traditional medicine as an anticancer remedy. In present study, oxaliplatin-resistant HCT۱۱۶ cells were treated with varying doses of aqueous extract derived from P. harmala seeds for۲۴ and ۴۸ hours. The methylthiazol Tetrazolium (MTT) assay was used to determine cell viability. The analysis showed asignificant relationship between the increase in the number of dead cells and the increase in the concentration of P.harmala’saquaous extract. The cytotoxicity of P. harmala extract increased significantly from ۲۴ h to ۴۸ h in Oxaliplatin-resistant HCT۱۱۶ cell line. These findings suggest that P.harmala’s aquaous extract, may be useful for treatment of drug-resistant colorectal cancer.
