Causes of addiction in Adolescent

Background: One of the complex and affecting issues of all societies at present is the problem ofyouth addiction so that which has attracted the attention of many researchers, criminologists, etc.In this research, the causes of youth addiction are investigated.Methods: The current study is a short review study that was designed in ۲۰۲۲. By searchinginternational and national databases, including scientific information databases (SID) and Scopus,articles were collected from the period ۲۰۱۶ to ۲۰۲۲ about the causes of Adolescent addiction.After reviewing the search results, finally, ۸۳ studies were used to write this study.Results: The most important factors affecting addiction include: family, friends, school, individualand personality causes, geographical and social environment, mass media, economic well-being,unemployment, and poverty. The impact of each of these factors cannot be separated from theother, and studies show that curiosity is the first reason and the temptation of friends is the secondreason for drug addiction among young people.Conclusion: Appropriate planning about the family and the educational system plays an importantrole in reducing the tendency of young people to become addicted. It is also suggested to providenecessary services to young people in the fields of education, health, and counseling, and planningfor leisure time, especially in villages without recreational facilities.
