The factors of the tendency of Iranian adolescents to smoke/A systematicreview

Background: Statistics show that adolescents' tendency to cigarette smoking has increased in theworld, among Iranian adolescents it is increase too .the present study aimed to determine thefactors affecting the tendency of Iranian adolescents to cigarette smoking.Methods: The present research is a review study for ۲۰۲۲, we conducted advanced research inSID, Google Scholar, PubMed, Science Direct, World Health Organization (WHO), with 'smoking'and 'Iranian adolescents' key terms. After reviewing the relevant articles,۱۹ articles wereevaluated.Result: The most common reasons for the tendency of Iranian adolescents to smoke are curiosity,advertisements and the influence of the media, lack of knowledge about the harms and addiction ofsmoking, peer pressure, the presence of smokers in the family and close friends, academic failure,depression and reducing anger, anxiety and pain. Feeling of gaining identity and personality, lackof suitable work and entertainment for adolescents, access to cigarettes easily, need to attractattention and fear of being rejected from the group and previous experience of drug abuse.Conclusion: Increasing the level of awareness about the disadvantages of smoking and holdingworkshops in schools for increasing self-esteem and the ability to say no, create a sense ofcontinuity and responsibility to school in adolescents, holding training programs and counselingfor teens who have been afflicted with academic failure and consulting workshops for reducinganxiety and depression in schools can play important role in reducing smoking among theadolescents.
