چکیده مقاله:

Introduction :Carbon Monoxide is a colorless and odorless gas that is produced due to incomplete combustion, so that heaters, water heaters, fireplaces and gas stoves are the cause of carbon monoxide poisoning due to improper ventilation system (chimney). According to the concentration of CO gas and also the duration of exposure to it, the level of poisoning is different and it is divided into three categories of mild, moderate and severe poisoning.Purpose:The aim of this study was report of a case of Carbon Monoxide poisoning.Patient introduction:The patient, a ۳۴-year-old man, went to the emergency room due to carbon monoxide poisoning after lighting a picnic under a blanket with the intention of committing suicide, complaining of headache, weakness, lethargy, nausea, vomiting, and fatigue. The patient's vital signs include BP=۱۰۰/۷۰, HR =۱۰۵, RR=۲۰, T=۳۷. CBC, BS, BUN, Cr, and VBG tests and blood carbon monoxide measurement were requested for the patient. The patient's VBG indices were as follows: PH=۷/۴۰, PO۲=۷۰/۳, PCO۲=۳۹/۶, and Hco۳=۲۴/۳. The amount of carbon monoxide in the patient's blood was reported as ۱۰-۱۵%. Due to the decrease in PO۲ and the increase in the percentage of carbon monoxide in the blood, the patient underwent O۲ therapy with a mask. The patient's VBG was repeated every ۴ hours, and after ۲۴ hours, the patient was discharged with a good general condition and normal test results. Psychiatrist was referred.
