An analysis comparing the mental health of mothers of normal children with the mental health of mothers of exceptional children

چکیده مقاله:

The exceptional term is basically an educational term that is said to only a few students whose differences and deviations are different from the average of their age group. A person who according to the psychology of development and its stages, or in other words, is before the age of ۱۸ and has a lower performance in terms of intelligence and physical functions compared to the norms of the society, is known as an exceptional child.Exceptional children can be classified in different categories. One of the types of classification of exceptional children is as follows. ۱- Mental retardation ۲- Intelligence ۳- LD learning disorders ۴- Hyperactivity of ADHD children. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is one of children's neurobehavioral disorders that depends on several hereditary and environmental factors and is diagnosed in a person between the ages of five and seven based on three behaviors of inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity. Hyperactivity is one of the most common behavioral disorders that endanger parents' mental health, especially mothers, as someone who has first contact with child. This study aimed to compare the mental health of mothers with hyperactive children and mothers with normal children. The study's methodology is a scientific-comparison. Statistical population refers to all mothers of Hamedan city in ۲۰۱۱.Sample is ۲۰۰ children’s mothers with ADHD and normal children’s mothers which is selected by available sampling from elementary school of Hamadan. Data is gathered by Conner (parent form) and SCL-۹۰ questionnaires and is analyzed by computer program of SPSS. The obtained results from statistical findings showed significant differences between the mental health of mothers with ADHD children and mothers with normal children in components of somatization, obsessive and compulsion, interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety, hostility, phobia, paranoid thoughts and psychotic at the level of ۰/۰۱. This difference has advantage for mothers with normal children. The results of this study showed that children with ADHD disorder in the family have a huge impact on the mental health of mothers and families.
