چکیده مقاله:
Regular PA reduces the risk of systemic inflammation, which is a main contributor to lung damage caused by COVID-۱۹. Additionally, exercise benefits cardiovascular health, increases lung capacity and muscle strength, and improves mental health. Therefore, the present systematic review aims to explore the hospitalization, intensive care unit (ICU) admissions and mortality rates of COVID-۱۹ patients with a history of PA participation before the onset of the pandemic.A systematic search of MEDLINE/PubMed, CINAHL, Scopus and medRxiv was conducted for articles published up to January ۲۰۲۲.Twelve studies involving ۱,۲۵۶,۶۰۹ patients (۹۹۱,۲۶۸ physically active and ۲۶۵,۳۴۱ inactive cases) with COVID-۱۹, were included for the pooled analysis. The overall systematic review compared with inactive controls showed significant associations between PA with reduction in COVID-۱۹ hospitalization, ICU admissions and mortality. The protective effect of PA on COVID-۱۹ hospitalization and mortality could be attributable to types of exercise such as muscle strength and aerobic fitness, respectively.PA decreases hospitalization, ICU admissions and mortality rates of patients with COVID-۱۹. Further studies are warranted to determine the biological mechanisms underlying these findings.
