Preparation of Acidic Hydroxyapatite from Eggshells; a Green Catalyst to Produce of Biodiesel

Hydroxyapatite functionalized sulfonic acid (HAp@SO۳H) was synthesized and employed for esterification and transesterification of sunflower oil. Optimized conditions was selected by employing of novel HAp@SO۳H as catalyst. The results showed that present novel acidic catalyst was very efficient and recyclable catalyst for the preparation of biodiesel. The yield of product increases with the decrease of steric hindrance of employed alcohol. All of conversions were measured by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Cleaner reaction profile, mild reaction conditions, using of the green solvent and reusability of the catalyst, make this protocol attractive for the large scale synthesis of biodiesel.
