چکیده مقاله:

This study investigates the degradation of Amaranth, an anionic azo dye, in aqueous solutions using an Ozonation/UV (O۳/UV) advanced oxidation process. The Response Surface Methodology (RSM) based on a Central Composite Design (CCD) was employed to model and optimize the process. Four independent variables, namely initial Amaranth concentration (۱۰۰-۳۰۰ mg/L), ozone dosage (۳-۹ g/h), reaction time (۱۰-۵۰ min), and pH (۳-۱۱), were analyzed. A total of ۳۱ experimental runs were conducted. The results indicated that the process was significantly influenced by all variables, with pH and reaction time being the most prominent. A quadratic model was developed to predict the removal efficiency. The model's validity was confirmed through Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), which showed a high coefficient of determination (R۲ = ۰.۹۸۵۵). The optimal conditions for maximum dye removal were found to be an initial Amaranth concentration of ۳۰۰ mg/L, an ozone dose of ۹ g/h, a pH of ۱۱, and a reaction time of ۵۰ minutes. Under these conditions, a removal efficiency of ۹۷.۲۲% was achieved experimentally, which closely matched the model's predicted value of ۹۸.۵۵%. This demonstrates that the O۳/UV process is a highly effective method for treating water contaminated with Amaranth dye and that RSM is a reliable tool for its optimization.
