Providing safety for nonstructural elements in building is often forgotten, it should be borne in mind that in the event of an earthquake, nonstructural elements have the potential to cause secondary damage to people and the main structure, if we consider the wires or power cables of a building that are exposed to damage due to inertial forces, the result can be spark, which sometimes cause large-scale fires. This issue is so important that for instance, in the ۱۹۹۹ earthquake in Izmit/Turkey, about ۵۰% of all injuries were caused by the collapse of nonstructural elements of buildings. In this paper, the regulations of nonstructural elements of the building, which are about safety, risk prevention and security, have been examined. As well as ways to identify potential hazards of nonstructural elements, methods of increasing safety for those elements and examples of damage to nonstructural elements around the world that history has shown to humanity have been evaluated.
