Social impact assessment of interchange routes:the case of Sardaran interchange route of Qazvin city, Iran

Among the numerous projects implemented in cities or currently being implemented, plans on the access roads and construction of new routes are the most important and effective due to their functional, physical and social impacts. The reason is that ineffectiveness of the transportation and access sectors leads to new major problems. The main objective of this study was to assess the social impacts of interchange routes on different social, functional and aesthetic aspects of cities. Hence, it was tried to go through the phases introduced by SIA (Social Impact Assessment), in accordance with rules and principles introduced in the theoretical framework chapter of this document so as to assess the social impacts of the Sardardan interchange routes in Qazvin City. The present study can be considered a qualitative and quantitative study regarding its methodology. With regard to its objective, this can be considered as an applied study. Following the assessments and analyses, the most important social effects are provided in a table in the “conclusions” section.
