چکیده مقاله:

The main purpose of this article was to compare the two modern agricultural systems in terms of agricultural sustainability. Agro-industry is an agricultural system that provides food and feed for animals, while agribusiness is another agricultural system, which provides the food for world’s population. Significantly, more food production is an important strategy in an agribusiness system, this could affect environmental sustainability, however, food production is important in an agro-industry system, but waste management and energy efficiency could help environmental sustainability. It should be noted that agricultural mechanization and the types of energy resources affect both agribusiness and agro-industrial systems. To compare these two modern agricultural systems in terms of emissions and environmental sustainability, the provided outcomes of conducted researches with the life cycle assessment method on each agricultural system in recent years were collected and discussed in this paper. Therefore, this review aims to update the scientific community, agriculture policies, non-government investing organizations. The paper highlighted that an agro-industry system emits low emissions compared to an agribusiness system, hence, this agricultural system is environmentally friendly and could guarantee agricultural sustainability if would be managed correctly.
