This issue emphasizes the need for future research in the field of architecture. Among all the factors influencing the progress of these fields, especially in recent years, we can mention new technology and materials and other related sciences.One of the necessities for paying attention to new materials, including intelligent materials and its applications in the field of architecture and design, are the rapid growth of new technologies, causing the rapid movement of architecture and design as a result.The human lifestyle, consequently, their requirements from buildings and residence area will be changed over the years. So more than the shape of buildings, the changes that occur in buildings based on technology, improving the response to the human’s needs, will be of interest.To keep up with new technology and new materials in building construction, the first step is to know these new materials and their features, as well as to get acquainted with how to use these materials. In this research, photogenic intelligent materials as well as the usage of these materials in architecture and design will be introduced. In this regard, the best examples of the use of these materials have been collected to review.
