The rivalry between the United States and China has become a defining feature of global geopolitics in the 21st century, influencing multiple dimensions of global stability, including economic performance, political alignments, and security dynamics. As both nations contend for global influence, their competition has far-reaching effects on the international order, impacting key regions such as the Indo-Pacific, Europe, and Africa.

The objective of this research is to assess how the US-China rivalry disrupts global stability across economic, political, and security domains. The scope of the study covers the period from 2001, when China joined the World Trade Organization (WTO), to the present day, examining the rivalry’s evolution and its influence on global systems. The research adopts a mixed-methods approach, integrating qualitative analysis of policy reports, international relations theory, and expert interviews with quantitative data on trade flows, military expenditures, and diplomatic trends.

The findings demonstrate that the US-China rivalry has precipitated significant disruptions in global supply chains, exacerbated trade imbalances, and intensified market volatility, thereby destabilizing the global economy. Politically, the rivalry has polarized global alliances, as countries increasingly align with either China or the United States, shaping diplomatic and governance structures. In terms of security, the rivalry has heightened tensions in critical regions, particularly the South China Sea and Taiwan, with growing concerns over military confrontations.

Based on these findings, the paper proposes strategic policy recommendations to mitigate the destabilizing effects of the US-China rivalry. These include enhancing multilateral cooperation through international institutions such as the United Nations and the World Trade Organization, fostering consistent diplomatic engagement, and establishing transparent mechanisms for conflict resolution. Furthermore, the diversification of global supply chains and the development of regional trade agreements are essential to reducing vulnerabilities in the global economic system. Additionally, promoting technological collaboration and establishing regulatory frameworks for emerging technologies will help ensure equitable access to critical innovations and prevent monopolization. Strengthening regional security cooperation and establishing conflict-resolution frameworks can prevent military escalation and foster peace in sensitive areas like the South China Sea and Taiwan. Creating fair trade practices and ensuring that developing nations have greater representation in global financial institutions will help reduce the economic imbalances exacerbated by the rivalry. These recommendations aim to foster a more stable and cooperative global order, reducing the risks of conflict while encouraging collaboration for global prosperity.
