The Capacity of Production Biogas from Livestock Excrements in Jovein City, Khorasan Razavi Province, Iran

Bio-gas energy is in fact the energy derived from the fermentation of animal excrementsand plant residues and in general, organic waste, which In this process, methaneemissions (up to 70%) and carbon dioxide are released. The methane gas released in thisprocess can be used in rural areas to supply electricity or fuel. This phenomenon wasdiscovered about 200 years ago by observing that flammable gases from mires andmudslides are flammable. The use of modern biogas energy was introduced after WorldWar II. The countries of China, India, Philippines, Netherlands, Germany and the UnitedStates are among the countries that have investigated the possibility of developing andexploiting bio-gas. In recent years, the goal of biogas technology has changed fromenergy recovery to environmental protection. In our country, there is also extensiveresearch on the usage of bio-gas In this paper, the potential of biogas production fromlivestock excrements is calculated in jovein city, Khorasan Razavi province. For thispurpose at first, the types of livestock are separated according to their different upkeeplocations, Then by applying the removable coefficients of livestock excrements, Theamount of collected excrements in this city and the amount of biogas generated from itwere calculated.
