چکیده مقاله:
Introduction: In adults patients rhabdoid carcinomas categorized as malignant poorly differentiated carcinomas with rhabdoid phenotype. Rhabdoid carcinomas of colorectal are very rare and highly aggressive malignancies. We report an asymptomatic rare case of a primary bronchopulmonary carcinoid in a 62 years old man.Case presentation: A 67-year-old man presented with history abdominal pain and rectal bleeding for six months. On systemic examination, patient was ill and pale. The serum level of CA19-9 tumor marker was elevated. Colonoscopic study shown a huge mass in the ascending colon. Histopathology examination shown solid sheet of tumoral cells with high N/C ratio, vesicular, eccentric nuclei , large nucleoli, abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm , rhabdoid appearance. Patient underwent right hemicolectomy. Rhabdoid carcinoma also confirmed in histopathologic examination of resected colon and IHC studies. One month after the initial surgry, a follow-up CT reported several retroperitoneal lymph nodes enlargement and multi focal hepatic lesions, suggestive of metastasis. After an unfavorable progression , three months after surgery, the patient died. Conclusion: The definite diagnosis of colonic rhabdoid carcinoma is critical because it is related to a very aggressive clinical course, frequent metastasis at diagnosis time and poor response to frequent therapeutic protocols.
