A corpus analysis of Hijab conceptual metaphor in the Persian book of Chastity and Hijab in Iranian-Islamic Lifestyle

The current study seeks for answers related to the distribution of hijab terms in the Persian book of Chastity and Hijab in Iranian-Islamic Lifestyle by Sayed Ali Khamenei and his metaphoric reflection in peoples’ ideas, intentions, or values. By inquiring the aforementioned book, a corpus of 18 hijab terms in content were investigated for the analysis. Three raters who studied Islamic science analyzed accurately the corpus for the evaluation of the hijab metaphoric conceptualizations. To validate the raters’ propositions, two focus groups of nine and seven interpreted the recommended connotations. Obtained results represented that hijab terms are not similarly distributed in the chosen corpus and it is shown that hijab metaphor is used with different conceptualizations that all of them stand for positive connotations only. Because metaphorical expression is the necessary attribute of the authors’ and speakers’ common lives to display information, language users are suggested to hold required knowledge of these expressions in disparate domains.
